Water Use & Sustainability in Market Gardening: Burkina Faso
INTRODUCTION This is a research project aimed at exploring how drip irrigation systems might can be developed on a cost-effective basis to improve production for small-holder farmers in Burkina Faso.
LOCATION Work is being carried out in the Central and East Regions of Burkina Faso amongst communities in Dassui and Zombrebaonghim in Dialgaye and Tensobentenge districts.
OBJECTIVES The purpose of this project is to experiment with the use of drip irrigation systems, and test both the rational use of water and the economic benefits and profitability of low cost irrigation systems.
Work is being carried out in the Central and East Regions of Burkina Faso amongst communities in Dassui and Zombrebaonghim in Dialgaye and Tensobentenge districts.
The project is a collaboration between Self Help Africa and local partner ADECCOL, Dept of Agriculture and International Development Enterprise (IDE), who are providing drip kits and technical support.
